How data transfer works between the ERP system and L-mobile service

To ensure reliable communication between the ERP system and L-mobile service, we rely on REST API as an open industry standard. Specifically, we use OData integration here.

What is OData?
OData stands for “Open Data Protocol”—a standardized, open protocol for data access via http(s)-based interfaces. It enables data from various sources to be securely retrieved, consolidated, and exchanged between systems.
How does OData integration work in practice?
The OData integration runs as a Windows service, fully automated and in the background every five to ten minutes. There are two distinct directions in this process. During data import, changes in the ERP system are detected by the OData integration and transferred to L-mobile service. Conversely, during data export the data recorded in L-mobile service is transferred back to the ERP system.
How secure is data transfer?
Data transfer takes place exclusively via encrypted https connections with token authentication. Another security feature: The ERP system, OData integration, and L-mobile service do not need to be on the same network.

Can L-mobile service also be used without ERP integration?

Yes, many customers successfully use the field service management software even without an ERP system. However, it is an advantage if you already use a centralized data storage system in the form of ERP, because then the customer, personal, item, and order data can ideally be integrated with one of our interfaces.

Can I develop an interface to my ERP system myself?

Yes. L-mobile service has its own Open Data Protocol API or OData API for short. You can use this API to import data content from L-mobile or export your own data records to the software. Since it can be very complicated to create your own interface, we recommend using existing integrations such as our own CSV interface.

How long will it take to connect L-mobile service to our ERP system?

The timeframe for ERP connection depends primarily on two factors: the ERP system used and the specific scope of the digitalization project. Data synchronization between the ERP system and L-mobile service runs automatically in the background every five to ten minutes via batch synchronization. Changes in the ERP solution—such as a new field service order or updated customer data—are available to your service team in L-mobile service within minutes. The same applies to changes in the field service management software. These are automatically transferred to the ERP system.

How does the connection between L-mobile service and MS Dynamics 365 Business Central work?

The connection between L-mobile service and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is established via our OData interface in combination with the L-mobile connector for MS Dynamics. This connector enables bidirectional communication with all MS Dynamics ERP versions via web services. This allows data to be retrieved from the ERP system and also written back to it.

How does the ERP integration of L-mobile service work in Proalpha?

L-mobile and Proalpha have maintained an OEM partnership since 2016. As part of this partnership, a seamless standard integration was developed, which has already been successfully implemented in numerous customer projects. Technically, the connection is based on the Integration Workbench (INWB), OData, and the Proalpha AppServer. In addition, the L-mobile component allows you to manage the interface directly via the Proalpha user interface—without switching systems.
