The “Pick2Hub” extension module allows you to efficiently pre-pick the goods required for production or sales orders and thus provide them more quickly. The L-mobile WMS digital warehouse management software supports you by offering digital and mobile pre-picking via a barcode scanner solution.

The function is embedded in both goods receipt and production and, when posting incoming goods, alerts you if items are currently required for an order. Instead of putting the goods back into storage, you collect them on an order-specific basis in a special storage bin and create instant transparency regarding their availability and location. This not only enables you to achieve faster throughput times, but also ensures on-time delivery to production and the end customer. It is also possible to use Pick2Hub in combination with electronic labels (E-Labels) and thus provide even greater transparency for pre-picking.

Provision of incoming goods on an order-specific basis with Pick2Hub

It will be a familiar situation for companies that rely heavily on the order-specific provision of material: Certain parts are urgently needed for an order and must be transferred from goods receipt to production as quickly as possible. Often, employees in goods receipt have no overview of which items are involved. If there are collection points for the required goods, these are often labeled with slips of paper that are easily lost. Using a mobile WMS software solution offers significant optimization potential here.

The aim of the “Pick2Hub” function is to use a barcode scanner solution to pre-pick the goods required for an order directly to a special storage bin. To do this, “Pick2Hub” is embedded in your “Goods Receipt” and “Production” modules, and suggests transport to this collection point for the necessary incoming goods. By posting via a mobile device and being connected to your ERP system, you have transparency throughout the entire process regarding the location of the goods and the items that are already available. The goods can then be transported to manufacturing or shipping at the right time.

How pre-picking in goods receipt works

If you want to use the “Pick2Hub” function in goods receipt, start the “Goods Receipt” module as usual. To select the corresponding order, you can either scan the order number, select it from the list, or enter additional information using the filter. After entering the delivery note number, you will see an overview of all ordered items. This is where pre-picking comes into play: When you select an item that is required for a current order, a red “Pick2Hub” button appears on your digital device. The barcode scanner solution automatically checks which manufacturing orders the item is for and suggests them to you. Once you have selected an order, you need to enter the quantity and the Pick2Hub storage bin. The process is then posted and the goods have been provided for the corresponding order.

Pre-picking incoming goods from production

Just like goods receipt, it is also possible to pre-pick incoming goods from production. This function is embedded in the “Production Receipt” module. When the corresponding production order is selected, the red “Pick2Hub” button is also shown, indicating an open sales order. By clicking the button, you can select the appropriate order, enter a quantity, and specify the Pick2Hub storage bin.

With just a few clicks, this process is also posted and the goods can be transported from the collection point to shipping. This not only reduces throughput times, but also ensures that employees always have all the important information available on their handheld devices.

Support from electronic labels (E-Labels)

Electronic labels are increasingly being used in warehouse management. And for good reason: Unlike traditional order documents, E-Labels can always display up-to-date information, thus contributing significantly to on-time and transparent production. When it comes to Pick2Hub, E-Labels are ideal for identifying order-related storage bins.

After the initial pairing of the E-Label and pallet location, items can be systematically allocated there for each order. If further parts are added, the E-Label is updated to reflect each step of progress. The E-Label displays a range of important information, such as the order number, deadline, customer name, number of open items, and much more. Color coding, such as red highlighting when the target date has been exceeded, helps ensure on-time delivery. Once the order has left the Pick2Hub storage bin, the E-Label can be disconnected and reused for the next order.
