Goods receipt is crucial for many other processes in the company. Smooth processes for receiving and posting goods are therefore particularly important. Posting goods receipt with a mobile scanner solution

The “Goods Receipt” module of the L-mobile WMS enables the digital receipt of goods via an app. This allows you to organize your goods receipt without subsequent manual entry. Your delivered items are recorded with mobile devices and posted to your ERP system in real time. The warehouse management system is connected to your ERP system via an interface—it can be used with all popular and industry-specific systems or as a stand-alone solution. The information from your ERP system about all open deliveries is clearly displayed on digital devices.

Getting started with the digital receipt of goods

There are various ways to get started with the receipt of goods in warehouse management. Basically, all open delivery notes that you have created in the ERP system can be displayed in a list and selected. However, you can also start by scanning or entering an item number. All open deliveries containing this item are then displayed. However, the easiest way is to have the supplier print the order number directly on the package as a barcode. Scan this and the WMS software will go directly to the corresponding order.

Once you have selected the appropriate goods receipt document, information about the order and the supplier is displayed. Now the delivery note number needs to be entered. The date of receipt can be pre-filled if desired, but can also be adjusted.

You can then view all items in the delivery note. Lengthy searches are a thing of the past, as you can simply jump to the relevant item by scanning the item number. Now enter the quantity, batch (if applicable), and target storage bin. The WMS software will immediately suggest a target storage bin—for example, if this item needs to be stored in a warehouse lift. For additional support, you can also use the free location search, which displays available storage bins and their contents.

After selecting the storage bin and confirming it, the item is posted—quickly, error-free, and without subsequent manual entry.

Two-step goods receipt

L-mobile WMS supports both one-step and two-step goods receipt. For the two-step variant, booking is first made to an incoming goods storage area. Here, the order can be checked and verified. In the second step, the goods are then put away by being transferred to the target storage bin. Here, too, all information is available in real time in the ERP system.

Stock information und label printing in goods receipt

In the item view of the digital receipt of goods, you also have the option of accessing the stock information. Here you will find everything you need to know about the storage bin and availability of this item, including the relevant batch and serial numbers. Photos and text relating to the item can also be viewed here. One especially practical feature is that labels can be printed either from the stock information or directly in goods receipt with just a click.

Pre-picking in goods receipt

To better organize your goods receipt, the “Pick2Hub” extension module is available for pre-picking. If incoming items are already needed for a production or sales order, the WMS software alerts you in the “Goods Receipt” module. By selecting Pick2Hub, you save on time-consuming storage and retrieval and can directly prepare and post goods for these orders. In addition, the items are assigned to the current storage bin so that you always know where the items for the order are located.

Automatically split items into multiple stock records

The split function in goods receipt allows you to split the items to be stored into multiple stock records and label them without having to recalculate. This allows a goods receipt item to be automatically split into multiple sub-stock items, for example, if there are different batches or packing units within the item. This eliminates the need for interim postings or posting individual partial quantities or batches.
